I love it when I come across something so original that I can barely wrap my arms around the beauty or concept of it. Isn't that what being inspired is all about? With this specific product/business, not only was the concept amazing, but the lady behind it is as well. That makes it even more special. A story of how an idea turns into a small business and then takes off to greatness makes me weak in the knees. I give you Geronimo...a balloon business run by this lovely lady....
I had a recent wardrobe analysis with a lovely lady who needs to update her basics. She has a trip to London in June so we kept this in mind with the first outfit. I believe in spending the lions share of your clothing budget on classic pieces and accessories like shoes, handbags, belts, etc. Hope you enjoy these first choices Shelly...had a blast working with you!
A term I think about when growing the MOD FOX culture...REINVENTION. Challenging to do, but necessary at the core of every creative soul. A perfect example...GAGA {lady that is...}
We had a blast at the event on Saturday, BLUSH...the RED party continues a benefit for Planned Parenthood. This was some seriously fun times y'all! Tiny disclaimer...it was an after hours grown up party with a lot of "safe sex" talk, NO children {or livestock} were harmed in the making of these photos!!
Things learned from this event:
*Dude, this is seriously a fun job even if we were exhausted the next day!
*Lighting a night club for photos, not so easy. Shadows haunted every shot, but we learned what NOT to do for next time.
*Drinks + Props = GREAT PHOTOS
*A certain amount of space is required for equipment not to get destroyed. Again...a good lesson for our next job!
*When handcrafting props..use extra glue. A LOT of manhandling happens to said props.
Here is a sneak peak of some of the props for a charity event Saturday evening. We are so excited to be working on this foto box and can't wait to see all the silliness that will come of it!
I have been dreaming of a job that would "insist" I use the Confetti System. I have long been enjoying the photos and eye candy coming out of this business. I would work for free {well, maybe} just to get the chance to learn their secrets. So watch out for MOD FOX STYLE's first order...we're a comin!!
This is a blog series about things I love here in my local town....people, places, art and more! While I adore and use internet shopping frequently, I do my best to support local talent. I hope you enjoy this series!
First up is the lady who inspired this idea, and I don't even know her. It is quite frequent that I see amazingly stylish peeps here in Bend. Why is this surprising? Because I live in a town of around 80,000 people up in the Central Oregon high desert. A ski town. A mountain town. Population was about 15,000 fifteen years ago. Most people here wear parkas and Uggs. With all this, I still manage to see a lot of people rockin some serious style.
Sally is one of these. I ran into her and her husband at the Portello Wine Bar and loved her unique look. She hails from the Midwest and is a teacher by trade. I loved her beret, her scarf, and her laid back "I look great but did not try that hard" look. Oh, and the chick is BUFF.
I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed working on this project with Tambi Lane. She is a true artist who digs what she does and MOD FOX loved collaborating with her on this journey.
Tambi came to me wanting help styling a photo shoot and video to promote her work. She had a vision of using a vintage VW bus with oranges {she talks about this in the video below}. This concept was a total no brainer for me. I immediately saw 70's...retro...boho...granny chic playing in my head. It was easy as pie to do the styling, the modeling...not so much.
For me the concept called for a very "unstyled" feel. I wanted it to seem as though we had just pulled up for a glamorous camp out and all of the goodies spilled out of the bus. The clothing was a blast. Everything was from my closet except for an edited selection from Urban Gypsy Soul {my fav travelling boutique, credits below}. I believe the vision was brought to life and Tambi's genius photography captured every glorious moment. So. Much. Fun.
